Our Sales Director Jamie Shanahan joined fellow fund raisers to complete the 24-mile Norfolk Broads to Norwich Trek 24 on Saturday 7^th May.

Jamie and his wife completed the marathon walk in an impressive 5 hours, 45 minutes. Sadly, the first ten miles were dogged by light rain but the sun made more of an appearance as they completed the second half.

“They laid on burgers at the halfway point, which was a big bonus, but it did make the next few miles a little slower as we walked off our lunch!” said Jamie.

The fundraising event was organised by the East Anglian Air Ambulance to help raise funds for their emergency services.

The air ambulance receives no regular government funding and relies on community donations to keep their two helicopters flying and saving lives. In 2021, they flew 1467 helicopter missions and attended to 1754 patients across the region.

Trek 24 started at Reedham in the Norfolk Broads and the path mostly followed the meandering River Yare to Whitlingham Country Park, just outside Norwich. For those with less experience, there was also a shorter 24km route.

As our chosen charity, the Chell Instruments team are keen to be involved in as many sponsored events for the East Anglian Air Ambulance as possible. We also make it the beneficiary of fundraising initiatives in and around our offices.

Well done to Jamie and his wife for completing the challenge in such a respectable time!
