Wind Tunnel Acquisition Systems

Chell are pleased to announce that they have supplied a number of complete in-model acquisition system for a leading F1 team's wind tunnels. The system is based around the new QUADdaq derivative of the well proven CANdaq system. The system provides 256 channels of high accuracy pressure, voltage or current scanning at acquisition speeds of up to 312 measurements per channel per second!

System Architecture

The acquisition system consists of one QUADdaq connected to a number of PSI DTC Pressure Scanners and Chell I-Daqs. This gives the user the ability to 'mix and match' channel types. The QUADdaq automatically senses the type of module connected and utilises the appropriate calibration.

  QUADdaq

The QUADdaq is a self contained 4 scanner acquisition system based on the successful Chell CANdaq. It provides a total solution to in-model acquisition acquiring accurate pressure data from the PSI pressure scanners and voltages and currents from the Chell I-Daq.

  PSI DTC Scanner

The PSI DTC scanner has revolutionised the world of pressure scanners. It utilised on-board calibration coefficients and temperature measurement of every transducer to give +/-0.06%FS without on-line calibration!

I-Daq

The Chell I-Daq is a compact, high accuracy analogue scanner that multiplexes 32 inputs into a single output. The electrical interface is exactly the same as the Pressure Systems pressure scanners. The I-Daq can therefore be purchased with the Chell CANdaq or ScanDaq to provide a complete acquisition system.

Additional Features

The QUADdaq also features some additional enhancements including a hardware trigger and valve control. The hardware trigger allows the 4 acquisitions to be synchronised to themselves and to any other acquisition equipment. It also enables the user to determine the timing of each sample.

The valve outputs will control up to 3 QD-VP valve interfaces. This enables the user to control the C1, C2 and purge valve for the scanners. Having the ability to control more than one QD-VP means that different range scanners can be pneumatically separated.
