UKAS accredited laboratories are subject to ongoing periodic
technical assessments and quality audits undertaken by independent
experts in the relevant calibration field(s). The UKAS mark
indicates the laboratory is legally recognised by the DTI as
providing the highest quality calibrations in the fields for
which it holds accreditation.
What's the difference
between ISO9000 and UKAS calibration laboratories?
ISO9000 registration merely indicates their company quality
system conforms to ISO9000 requirements. ISO9000 accreditation
has no bearing on the technical quality of calibration work
and in itself is no guarantee the calibrations themselves conform
to your own ISO9000 requirements.
Are UKAS calibration certificates
recognised overseas?
UKAS calibration certificates are internationally recognised
through multilateral agreements of which UKAS is a signatory.
UKAS has also recently received recognition in the USA by the
FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) FDA (Federal Drugs Administration)
and NVLAP (National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program)
