Custom Calibration and Performance Testing Systems

EXPERIENCE

Over 22 years, Chell has amassed a wealth of experience whilst performance testing transducers, valves, controllers and process control systems. We have built many PLC and PC controlled test and inspection systems for incorporation into our customer's production QC and in many cases we have both improved throughput and their product's performance.

To the right is a Wind Tunnel Pressure Calibrator with on-board PC controlled pressure transfer standard which generates calibration points for the on-line calibration of mounted scanners.

PERFORMANCE
There is now no reason to use lower performance measurements in production inspection than would be used for product development. The application of higher accuracy test systems in modern facilities provides a vision of a product which allows performance testing of product developments actually on the production line -a taboo concept only a few years ago but very necessary if 'time to market' is to be reduced. Very often, test systems involve the control of one parameter, say, gas flow, whilst measuring the resulting backing pressure. This has been used very successfully for such diverse applications as leak testing of catheter seals and blockage testing in bores through nuclear reactors.
	CUSTOM DESIGN
An Engine Pressure Calibrator designed to calibrate the pressure transducers incorporated in the Digital Engine Control Units of gas turbine engines both in manufacture and subsequent aircraft operations.	The very nature of custom design means that each system we build is different and the confidentiality of our clients prevents us from publishing data sheets. This brochure, therefore, simply illustrates a selection of past systems and a brief description of the service they perform. CALIBRATION
Our own calibration laboratory has developed new pressure and flow control techniques, together with high integrity computer control systems in order to provide an efficient service to our customers. These techniques are now offered incorporated into custom calibration systems for Pressure, Vacuum and Gas Flow.	A Gas Flow Management System supplied to a steel works to monitor their usage over batch and time during the Argon purge of arc furnace melt.
	INTEGRATION
	Chell has built many custom test systems that incorporate links with other measurement stands in order to provide the user with an integrated source of data for certification of overall performance. This integration stems from our ability to send an Applications Engineer to ‘live’ with our customer in order to fully appreciate his requirements. He then manages the project throughout design, build, installation, operator training and subsequent support including Preventative Maintenance and Calibration.
